Business listings - Google Businesses Profile
Google Business listing is another example of the great functionality of Google Maps. Google collects business listings information from multiple sources. (off-line and online) Google allows business owners to create and verify their own new location data through Google Business Profile, formerly Google My Business. Once a business location is confirmed, owners are encouraged to provide Google with factual Business information like; address, phone number, business category, photos, and posts, plus more options and additional information.
Google Maps can be manipulated. There are cases of people abusing Google Maps to overtake their competition by placing unverified listings. The people who update these listings do not use a registered business name. Keywords and location details are placed on their Google Maps business title, which can overtake credible business listings (so-called keyword stuffing).
Genuine business owners can also optimize their business listings to gain greater visibility through a type of search engine marketing called SEO and tools like Localo
