What is CPM - Definition

CPM (in online advertising marketing) - cost per mile - also known as CPT - cost per thousand impressions. It is the total cost of the campaign reaching one thousand recipients, calculated based on the number of page views of the website. For example, if the advertiser pays for an ad with a CPM of 50 $, reaching a total number of 1000 recipients (one thousand page views) costs 50$.

When should you use it?

The CPM model is the most popular model for building brand reach and awareness. Advertisers like CPM ads because they only pay for display ads. So do the owners of the ad space. However, because CPM impression rates are low - a site needs substantial traffic to get decent money from CPM ads campaign.
