There are still so many people that need a little extra help. For the month of January, Localo will be sharing different ways we can donate to those in need in our community.
First, we are starting with, stocking up the little pantries! There are Blessing Boxes and Little Free Pantries all over Columbus.
The pandemic has created a critical need for food. Many people and families have experienced job loss, and children who used to have at least one meal in school, are now home without stable meals.
A Little Pantry and Blessing Boxes are a way for neighbors to help neighbors. Both have the mindset of “give what you can, take what you need” approach for helping neighbors in need. The boxes are a way for those who can donate to donate, but also for those who are in need to get free items.
Here are some suggested items to donate:
- Peanut butter
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Canned soups
- Canned fruit and vegetables
- Granola and protein bars
- Whole grain pasta or rice
- Beans and lentils (canned or dry)
- Baby food and formula
- Pasta sauce
- One-box complete meals
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Cleaning wipes
- Feminine Hygiene Products
